The following is a brief description from the Gravel Fondo – Misogi Event promoter:
Gravel Fondo is returning for an amazing epic ride. We’ve done Chester County, and well we admit, it’s played. Too much traffic and other events have copied the exact routes we established in 2013. We’re over it.
Moving the event through Lancaster County was fine, but the gravel is not as well connected as we’d like, and who wants to look at farms and cows all day?
This is the next step and evolution in our quest for PA gravel is to give you something really hard to ride, with epic views and over 85% gravel with the Gravel Fondo: Misogi
This is not a Race, but a Ride! More importantly, it’s a fundraiser!
This is a ride for Amelia Price, a 6-year old with an unexpected diagnosis of Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). This rare genetic disorder causes the brain and nervous system to progressively lose all function. The prognosis is 10-15 years. There is no cure, but treatments have been developed to slow and even halt the disease’s progression while providing improved quality of life. Needless to say, Amelia’s family will incur enormous costs to give her the care that she needs. This ride will make a positive impact on Amelia’s care and wellbeing. All proceeds will be donated to the Arms Around Amelia Fund.
