The following is a brief description from the Gravel Locos – Texas Event promoter:
Gravel Locos 150 will be back in the charming town of Hico, TX for the 2023 edition even bigger and badass-er! The charity at the heart of it all remains the same: the Hico Volunteer Fire Department. [Editor’s Note: There are three other routes as well (GL 100, 60, and 30)].
Our wish hasn’t changed: we aspire to bring the greatness of gravel cycling to small communities that hardly know a thing about it and to share the incredible beauty of the great state of Texas. It was through our journeys with the bike that we became aware of the great needs of many volunteer fire departments nationwide. That became our cause.
After the purchase of a new Command Fire Truck for the Hico Volunteer Fire Department in 2021, we were able to raise enough funds in 2022 to add nearly 3,000 square feet to the existing fire station in order to accommodate all of their fire trucks and provide the squad with real living quarters!
Each registration includes a fully supported ride with fully stocked aid stations with portable bathrooms, SAG vehicles, a post ride meal and drink, and our Gravel Locos swag (including a t-shirt, a bag, and a water bottle). We also offer a VIP option (very limited space) if you want to spend more time, ride and dine with our flock of pros. The VIP option begins Thursday evening at Fabian’s Texas ranch.
We can’t wait to host you again in Hico, TX for yet one of the “gravel bucket list events”!
